25th May – 2nd June 2024 Creative Kernow

Wheel thrown and hand built ceramics. I love experimenting with different shapes. I make my own glazes and also use wild clay & sea glass as a glaze.

In my studio on a farm near St. Columb Major I make all sorts of functional ceramics on the potters wheel. I love experimenting with different shapes and make cups, bowls, plates, vases, candleholders etc. I make my own glazes and am drawn to calm tones. I also use wild clay & sea glass in my glazes. I love how these materials make every pot totally unique and create a strong connection with the various locations I found them.

The clay and the process itself inspire me a lot. When throwing on the wheel there’s an interesting tension of being in control and being guided by what the clay naturally wants to do. I enjoy figuring out what shapes I can make and how to improve it all the time. I just love seeing the transformation from a lump of clay to a solid piece of ceramics.

Last year I also started handbuilding, which gives me the opportunity to explore other shapes.

On the A39 take the Tregatillian exit and turn left after passing Tregatillian park on your right. Follow the road for about 1 mile until you reach Dennis Farm. Just follow the lane and then turn left into the yard for my studio.
