I create sea inspired pottery and paintings. I use lots of turquoise and blue glazes, and make a range of functional ware, from mugs, jugs and lamps.
Come along to Lowenek Art Studio based in a barn that’s recently been converted into a light and airy art studio with blue wall murals and a cosy wood burner. Here you will find a small group of makers displaying a range of items from ceramics to textiles.
I create sea inspired pottery and paintings. I hand make all my pottery using either the wheel or slab and coil techniques. I then bisque fire my pots in an electric kiln before adding glaze. The majority of the glazes I create myself from raw materials. I find glazing one of the most enjoyable parts of the process, especially the excitement of opening the kiln to see what magic has occurred . Before I discovered pottery I had been painting the sea and landscape for many years. The colours of the sea found in my paintings have naturally transferred across into my ceramics.
My background is in teaching and I really enjoy encouraging people to get creative, running workshops from my studio throughout the year. I will also be running some ‘have a go’ workshops during open studios.
