Jennie Hale Ceramics

Information

An opportunity to visit Jennie's pottery workshop to see her latest collection of Ceramic work, plus some of her unique Nature journals.

The open studio event gives a unique opportunity to visit Jennie’s workshop on Bodmin Moor, Jennie is fascinated by the natural world and this is reflected in her work. Both in the Thrown and sgraffito decorated earthenware and the sculptural Raku fired pieces.

For the last 30 years Jennie has kept illustrated nature journals which she fills with notes and drawings about the flora and fauna she encounters. These hand written and beautifully illustrated books will be on display alongside her ceramics and some of her framed Watercolours.

Jennie has been a professional potter all her working life having studied Ceramics and worked as an assistant to Marianne de Trey CBE, she has been lucky enough to work with and learn from many leading potters and wildlife artists throughout her career.

Jennie has lived and traveled in wild environments all over the world.

A daily practice of walking and making drawings has been her way of discovering her environment and the flora and fauna lives within it. This way of working has lead her to teach watercolour journalling both in this country and abroad, leading her across the globe to exciting wildlife destinations and to travel in remote areas, always painting and drawing, gathering moments in time.

Once a month she teaches watercolour Journalling to students in her lovely workshop by Colliford Lake, sharing her knowledge of both natural history and watercolour techniques, something that she enjoys immensely.

This combination of drawing, painting and ceramics is something that is reflect in Jennie’s approach to clay, each piece is uniquely part of those moments that Jennie has shared with the world around her.
