Claire Houghton Textiles

I`m Claire, a mixed media textile artist. My inspiration is drawn from walks along the Cornish coastline.I look forward to sharing my work.

I mainly create textile scenes using a variety of fabrics, processes and techniques, including dyeing, painting and manipulating. Delving into my collection of vintage linen and lace, I enjoy bringing age worn textiles back to life. Much of my work involves free motion machine embroidery onto water soluble fabric, which I will be demonstrating in my studio.

I have exhibited throughout the South West, but this is my first year of Open Studios.

In my garden studio tucked away on the beautiful Roseland Peninsula, each piece evolves as it is created, making each artwork original and unique.
A short walk from the studio takes you to Porthcurnick beach, where you will find the renowned Hidden Hut. A perfect spot for an excellent lunch!
